How our cables are specified, made and tested.

Standards our cables are built to

Every cable type lists the standard it follows. Confirm the exact standard and approvals with our team before ordering.

IEC 60228

Conductors

Conductor classes and sizes for insulated cables.

IEC 60502

Power cables

Extruded solid dielectric insulated power cables for rated voltages from 1 kV to 30 kV.

IEC 60227

PVC insulated cables

Cables rated up to and including 450/750 V for fixed wiring and flexible use.

BS 6004

PVC wiring cables

Electric cables with PVC insulation and sheath for general wiring.

Test reports and datasheets are available on request with every quotation.

From copper rod to cable drum

The route a cable takes through manufacture. Edit the steps to match your plant.

  1. Conductor drawing and stranding

Rod is drawn to size and stranded into the conductor class the design calls for.

  2. Insulation extrusion

Insulating compound is extruded over the conductor to the specified thickness.

  3. Laying up and armouring

Cores are laid up, bedded and armoured where the construction needs mechanical protection.

  4. Sheathing and marking

The outer sheath is extruded and the cable is marked with its type and rating.

  5. Testing and drumming

Cables are tested, wound onto drums or coils and packed for dispatch.
